Resistance is futile. The Millennials have hit our schools and are entering our workforce.

A new generation, that is far different than any generation in the past, is in our schools and entering our workforce. We are challenged to understand their behavior and motivation. They have been raised with computers, video games, cell phones, iPods and 24/7 availability for food and entertainment. They can think laterally (doing multiple tasks simultaneously) and their ability to accept failure and success are different than ours. With our understanding, listening, acknowledgement and guidance, they may be our greatest generation.

Many people ask us, why is Envision Your Future so successful? It is successful because it is "kid-driven". They get to engage in designing the blueprint for their life. After meeting Scott Degraffenreid, a Social Network Analyst and a Millennial specialist, we further understood why kids enthusiastically get Envision Your Future. Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of worker retention and recruiting. His clients include some of our largest corporations who are having major challenges with the new work force (The Millennials or Gen-Y) entering their companies.

While there are many studies on The Millennials, their conclusions do not match the behavior. This generation knows what answers these studies are looking for. Scott's work is based on observation, open dialog and interaction with Millennials in the workplace, the Internet, in their social environment and at play. By studying their behavior, Scott has been able to provide winning strategies for the youth and employers in the workplace.

As an impartial observer, Scott came to understand that this new generation's brains are wired differently. They are "non-traditional". They do not like to follow procedures (they can find better and shorter ways to accomplish the same task) and punctuality and longevity on the job are not their strong suits. Thanks to Scott Degraffenreid's breaking the code of The Millennials, his clients are profiting by utilizing his findings. Given the right environment, Millennials have a greater potential than previous generations if we nurture their strengths, embrace their differences and give them the support and guidance needed to accomplish their goals.

Scott is a valued member of the Envision Your Future Advisory Board. His book on The Millennials will be published shortly. In the meantime, you can go to his site at http://www.necessarymeasures.com/millennialarticle906.pdf, to read an article and to http://www.necessarymeasures.com/gettinggamers-degraffenreid2007.pdf to read a chapter from his soon to be released book. Scott asked that his written materials not be reproduced without his written permission. Scott Degraffenreid's web site is http://www.necessarymeasures.com/ and his new site dedicated to understanding Millennials http://n2millennials.com/about.

A Testimonial from Scott Degraffenreid, I believe the work of Envision Your Future is grounded in a clear understanding of and an abiding commitment to the fullest potential of today's young people, who are so often misinterpreted and unfairly labeled. It's an honor to be of service to Envision Your Future.
